Unlike the E3 visa, which is specifically tailored for researchers and is dependent on the job contract from the University, the F2-7 visa offers a broader scope of eligibility criteria, including factors such as education, language proficiency, income, and community involvement. This visa not only provides greater flexibility but also opens doors to various opportunities beyond the realm of research.

 

Planning and Preparation:

Transitioning from an E3 visa to an F2-7 visa requires meticulous planning and preparation. As I embark on this journey, I've begun by assessing my eligibility based on the point system criteria outlined by the Korean Immigration Service. Education: The level of education attained, such as bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degrees, determines the points awarded.

Korean Language Proficiency: Proficiency in the Korean language is assessed through standardized tests like TOPIK (Test of Proficiency in Korean), with higher scores correlating to more points.

Income Level: Applicants must demonstrate a stable income, with higher earnings resulting in a greater number of points.

Community Involvement: Active participation in Korean society, such as volunteering, attending cultural events, or joining community organizations, can earn additional points.
