While there may be numerous posts circulating about the Climate Card, it's doubtful that many exist in English, leaving foreigners in Seoul feeling left out of the loop regarding this exciting unlimited transportation pass. This post is specifically tailored for foreigners residing in Seoul, aiming to bridge the information gap and ensure everyone can take full advantage of this fantastic opportunity. 🌟

Introducing the Climate Card
So, what exactly is the Climate Card? 🌍 This revolutionary pass, available in both mobile and physical formats, offers unlimited access to Seoul's public transportation network for a month. Starting January 23, 2024, commuters can purchase these cards, enabling hassle-free travel across the city's extensive subway and bus lines.
Coverage and Pricing
The Climate Card grants access to a wide array of transit lines, including Seoul Subway Lines 1-9, Sillim Line, Suin-bundang Line, Gyeongchun Line, Gyeongui-Jungang Line, and the Airport Railroad. However, the Sinbundang Line is excluded due to differing fare structures.
As for pricing, two options are available: a 62,000 won ticket for non-Ttareungi users and a 65,000 won ticket for Ttareungi users.
Purchasing Options
There are two convenient ways to acquire your Climate Card. For Samsung users, the mobile version is easily accessible through the 'Mobile T-Money' application. Meanwhile, those preferring a physical card can obtain one from customer safety rooms and selected convenience stores located in subway stations on lines 1-8. BUT NOTE THAT NOT ALL CONVENIENT STORES WILL SELL THE PHYSICAL CARD, so it's wise to verify availability beforehand using the Smart Seoul Map. 🗺️ Smart Seoul Map 스마트 서울맵 is in Korean. You can just type 스마트 서울맵 in Safari and it will look like this. Just click the 기후동행카드 shown in the image below and it will show the map of Seoul where the Climate Card is available. It is also advisable to call the convenient store first before visiting (some of them are already out of stock).
The physical card will cost you 3,000 won and it can be paid either in cash or in card. Lucky for me there is one near my home. The physical card looks like this.
Now what to do after getting the card? You should register your card on the T-money homepage.
Registering Your Card
To fully enjoy the benefits of your Climate Card, it's essential to register it on the Tmoney website. Below, we outline the simple steps to complete the registration process:
Visit the Tmoney website.
- Navigate to the registration page. To access the registration page, simply navigate to the designated section. Alternatively, if you already possess a T-money account, you can seamlessly log in using those credentials. If you're new to the platform and don't have an existing account, you have to sign-up.
Input your card details as prompted.
Make sure that pop-up is allowed in your settings. A pop-up like this will appear. Just click agree and register.
It will redirect you in this page, where you can see your card number. Just click the red button.
Once confirmed, your card is now registered and ready for use. 📝✔️ You will receive a text message (in my case Kakaotalk message).
Lastly, to add credit to your physical card, simply utilize the designated machines conveniently located within subway stations.
